Is anyone making any plans to promote the video release of the new movie? I understand that Best Buy is going to have a free gift (model of the new Enterprise) with the purchase of the BluRay version.. Would be a great opportunity to recruit and raise money for charity. Any thoughts or ideas? LLAP! \V/
Well that's still cool! It would be nice if the did give a free gift of the Enterprise. I know on Amazon.com you can pre-order the movie and it comes with the model of the Enterprise, but it cost $90.00 something dollors. I think it be cool if Walmart did some type of promotion of the movie release, but who knows for sure. I know when the movie Twlight was released on dvd they did a special promotion of the movie. I hope they do the same with Star Trek, after all Star Trek is better than some type of vampire movie. But thats my oppion.
The two exclusives offers which I've seen were from the UK and Australia respectively. On amazon.co.uk, they were offering a free Star Trek: Countdown graphic novel (which was the prequel story to the movie) with any order of the 2-disc DVD or 3-disc Blu-Ray version, but the promotion seems to have ceased:
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, but there's an Amazon Exclusive featuring a three-disc Blu-Ray set of the movie, with an elegant pewter Enterprise, in a limited edition of 5,000

I think Target is also doing something for the promotion of the movie. What a great Ideal , to support a charity in the name of Star Trek, something the sellers never thought of. They should have picked a fav. Charity, Breast cancer or something and send 10 % towards the sell of a movie towards that. I would rather see that then a toy or kit any day.
Sadly, the group in Amarillo isn't too active. They are going to have a group-watch of the movie sometime soon and that will be fun. I'm going to Hastings Bookstore and get a Mocha and enjoy the release party Mon/Tue.
Honest an' truley. I ain't seen a thing 'round here fer XI, 'cept a short behind the scenes look on Sci-Fi. There's been nothin' 'ere evein promotin' zhe release, sadly.......
Our Captain contacted the manager of the local Best Buy and he invited us to come there on Tuesday, in uniform, to help promote the release and our chapter. We hope to raffle off a blu-ray special gift set of the movie to raise money for our chapter events and also donate to charity. The manager at BB has not given us the okay on that yet. If anyone is near Elyria Ohio on that day (the 17th) stop in at the Best Buy in Midway Mall and say "hello". LLAP! \V/
awww man. Best Buy here didn't offer shit. Blockbuster gave 2 free rentals and advertised the comic but I never got the comic, with the purchace of the 2 disc or bluRay versions.
We had a great turnout at Best Buy for the release on Tuesday. The local paper came out and interviewed us and took pictures. They did a very positive article in Wednesday's paper. It's the Chronicle-Telegram in Elyria Ohio. Or you can see the article online here:
We were able to have the raffle and raise a little money for the Salvation Army. We were so happy that the grand prize winner of the raffle was a young man on leave from Iraq. He returns to Iraq in two week to finish off the last six months of his tour and then he is going to Afghanistan. A real hero!
I found Open Secrets and thought it looked interesting. To be honest I couldn't get into it. The characters seemed somewhat good but I didn't know enough about them except T’prynn and she was comatose. There wasn't much action at all. every time I t…
