I watch both versions of Battlestar Galactica, and my favorite is the 1978 version, the update version is allright, maybe I'm just oldschool when it comes to sci fi tv shows or tv shows

Hi. That's what I meant by a total redesign. The original Viper design is closer to the equivalent of a World War II P-51 Mustang in terms of sheer firepower. The Colonial Fleet should already have in inventory, or at least on the drawing board, a long-range Viper Bomber version with a two or three man crew, Hyperdrive, and would be equipped to carry either smart air-to-air missiles and /or nuclear smart bombs for starters. Essentially it would be a flying arsenal designed to carry out a wide array of missions. Much like the F-14, F-15, F-16, F-18, and the new F-22. All are air-superiority fighters, but all can deliver a wide array of bombs and missiles to long distance targets. Maybe we'll see one in the new Battlestar Galactica movie that's being planned. Bryan Singer is the kind of director that doesn't overlook detail. He did a nice job with the X-Men so lets keep our fingers crossed for BSG.

Hey Phil, I like u! What kind of missiles though? I dont see much space for a missile system though.... any ideas?

The final episode kept your interest, tied up all loose ends, and offered no real surprises in the end. But at least it didn't end up like Galactica 1980 for all you
devotees of the original series with Lorne Greene. As for the Vipers the new series cleaned up the design but never went for the total redesign it really needed. At the very least the cockpit should have been moved forward so the pilot could see beyond its nose, and cannons moved out to the wing-tips. Yes, shields and a missile payload wouldn't have hurt either.

I love the fighters, the viper is magnificent put some phaser cannon on it and replase those big targets of engines with a micro impulse drive and a shield unit and the perfect fighter......
