That is SO hard, but if I had to pick just one, I would choose the final episode.
The last episode of DS9 was probably one of the finest wrap-ups of a series ever....many moved on in ways that made sense, some stayed on, they all got to say their goodbyes, they recapped favorite scenes. Kasidy has had a vision of Ben. He promises to return. And then at the very end, as Jake looks out the window at the Wormhole where his Dad has gone, Kira comes up & puts her arm around Jake, and he puts his hand on hers.
It wasn't about sex or money or power. It was love.... Friendship, respect and love. And pondering the past...and the future.
And the final shot pulls away from the window, then pulls back from Ds9 (maybe only a small model in reality), which to us it felt like a real place. I could cry just thinking about it.
Having Jake's outfit from that last scene, I feel very lucky to have a piece of that.
Lyn that's an excellent choice and I love your rationale. I completely agree that they couldn't have wrapped things up any better. It truly had IT ALL. Nice too for you to own Jakes outfit,. Your so lucky! :)
I would put up for consideration the episode "In the Pale Moonlight". I know others here may feel that this is THE DS9 episode of all time. Where to start? It has so much. I would say that this episode exemplifies DS9 in several ways.
First, the TRUE humanity of the "infallible" stafleet officer is revealed. Unlike other series, such as TNG, it portrays the hero, in this case Sisko, as the internally conflicted man, willing to go past his "moral boundaries" to acheive a necessary goal. Sisko is drawn into temptation by Garak due to his increasing frustration with the lack of progress in the war. Sisko has to go so far as to bribe Quark (loved Quark's response!!), lie to the Romulans, and be an accessory to murder. It was HUGE. The drama was so well executed that I still get chills sometimes when viewing it.
Second, it utilized the wonderful skills of the writers to create an amazing script. The writing on SD9 consistently excelled, and helped propel the series onward.
Third, the episode effectively utilized the acting talents of its recurring characters and guest actors. ie. It showcased the wonderful characters of Senator Vreenak, and the tailor Garak. Andrew Robison's character was so wonderfully written into the episode that I relish seeing him plotting and scheming. Vreenak was so sardonic and ascerbic, that I cringe with Sisko, as he delivers the line "ITS A FAKE!".
Finally, the ending where Sisko says "I CAN live with it." , and "Computer, delete entry" is just plain awsome! He knew the burden of living with his guilt was a small price to pay for giving the Alpha Quadrant a fighting chance against the Dominion.
Other personal favorites are: Rapture, Papermoon, Sacrifice of Angels, and The Magnifiscent Ferengi. I think that there are so many incredible episodes that I could go on all day. I look forward to your responses and seeing what episodes get you going.

I would have to say In the Pale Moonlight. It shows how down and dirty Sisko could get. The good of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one...well Sisko went against the "TREK" take on that by saving the one...LOL he couldn't have cared less when it was all said and done.
I can't really remember the name, since I was watchin' DS9 at 2 AM, but I'll try my best to describe it. The one I watched, was the 2nd part, and the Carsassians had retaken controll of DS9. Sisko had been give controll of the Jem-Hadar (however this is spelles) to infultrate one of the Dominion's facilaties and destroyed it. This ended with them drifting in enemy territory with no engins after being attack by a Federation ship.
If someone could tell me the name of this, I'd greatly appreaciate it!
This is another hard question. There are moments to me that stand out....mostly involving space battles...(I'm so shallow when it comes to V/FX)....but of course who can forget classics like "Trials and Tribbleations", the battle in "Way of the warrior", "Captive Pursuit" for the general fun of it, "In the cards" for the same......I can't do it....at the series worst...its still better than any "Enterprise" episode!
It doesn't take much to make it better than Enterprise!! LOL Those are all episodes that in my opinion exceed anything Enterprise produced. I also loved the space battles.

When I was 14, I loved "In the Cards" followed by "A Call to Arms"...I don't know why...
Eleven years later, it's so hard for me to chose just one. "In the Pale Moonlight" has the
best script and story, obviously. "The Magnificent Ferengi" delivered the best laughs to
me. "Far Beyond the Stars" was definitely thought provoking...
Then there's "Wrongs Darker than Death or Night" which became quite twisted toward
the end when Kira wished she had let her mother die...
"The Ship" is enjoyable, because both Kilana and Sisko are holding back on giving up
a possesion and secret, which leads to many lives lost, which then teaches us we need
to trust each other....
For me it is hard to choose a favorite because of the different categories such as comedy, drama, originality, action, suspense... etc. I will list mine according to some of these categories and why.... Let's here about your favs and why.
Comedy: A three-way tie for me
Fascination - Lwaxana Troi in the Betazoid version of menopause which seems closer to being in heat and her powerful telepathic abilities are transferring her affections for one ODO to miscellaneous crew members and it is causing major mayhem... got to love it
The Magnificent Ferengi - 5 Ferengi... some who are enemies; team up to be heroes and rescue Moogie (Quark's mother and the Grand Negus' "Woman") from the Dominion? Each has his own agenda (of course) and even family members are not friends. LOL
Profit & Lace - The Nagus has been diposed; Quark gives his mother a heartattack ("It's all Quark's fault, It's all Quark's fault") and Quark undergoes a sex-change to become a ferengi female and prove that females can have the "lobes" for business too. Need I say more.
Drama: In the Pale Moonlight - Captain Sisko, Garak, the Romuluns, the Dominion.... lying, compromising, bribery, treachery, & murder... all with the approval of Starfleet?!!!! One word... Drama, Drama, Drama
Originality: Statistical Probabilities - Super geniuses portrayed as the mentally challenged 'nuff said
Action: Way of the Warrior - Gowron, Martok and oh yeah Worf is back and he nor DS9 are pleased with the plans of the Empire
Suspense: Empok Nor - A crazy and undisciplined Garak matched against the skill of Chief O'Brien and poor Nog; all alone on a seemingly deserted twin to DS9 (formerly Terok Nor) had to love that

I love the way you broke things down by category! Marvelous idea. I soooooo have to agree with your pics. Seems we have extremely similar tastes. The only thing I might add is to the comedy and action sections. I would have Magnificent Ferengi as #1. So many of the Ferengi episodes are hilarious. For action I would also have to list episodes like Sacrifice of Angels and the entire later half of season 7.

Yes I agree Sacrifice of Angels was very action packed and I loved the way they keyed that episode up with Favor the Bold there are soooo many the list goes and some may think gets better. As for the priority of episodes, I guess I should have stated "Listed in no particular order" as I totally agreee that the Ferengi Episodes are excellent... how about those Little Green Men :-)

We should move these responses into the identical topic that already has existed here for a several weeks. Maybe I'll see if I can do that, if you wouldn't mind OSG.

I'm never entirely 100% sure why, but my favourite episode is "Inquisition". Not to mention I love all Section 31 eps. (At least, the ones on DS9) although to be honest if I was to list my favourite ten episodes there'd be a pretty clear and obvious theme emerging.
Inquisition is my favourite episode because a) I never tire of watching it. b) the drama is so intense, and the story is quite well paced as well, which is important. c) because there are twists in it. and d) I make a confession -- also because it's got dr.JB in it.
Thematically, I like this episode because it is the first to introduce Section 31, and although it is not the first to look at when people lose their innocence, it is - I'm thinking anyway - an important story especially for Julian's character journey. Oh, and there's just something about when favourite characters get put into a bit of peril....
I'm actually changing my mind here a bit... Possibly because of the passage of time, and possibly because of some kind of minor attitude shift. However.
Although I do still like ...well, luv... the episode Inquisition, my new favourite episode has (albeit gradually) become Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges. Which is still Section 31 so some of the same factors apply -- but it's just such an amazing story.
And as second place, Statistical Probabilities, because of the characters and the story and also because there are some very interesting questions raised.
Honourable mention for current favourite not-Julian episode which is Whispers. A very well told, underrated, and surreal and sci-fi-type story.
HELLO!
Difficult news... when I called Monday to reserve my vendors table I was informed they were sold out last Friday!
So regrettably, I can not attend as a Vendor this time. I am #1 on the waiting list, should a vendor cancel. But I am informed…
