      'Survivor Tree' replanted at the
    9/11 Memorial Plaza

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg (C) looks on at a ceremonial planting of the so-called"“Survivor Tree" at the 9/11 Memorial area of the World Trade Center site December 22, 2010 in New York City. The callery pear tree was originally planted in the 1970’s at the World Trade Center site and sustained extensive damage but lived through the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act may come up for a Senate vote today.

Architect Michael Arad wanted the National 9/11 Museum to include underground galleries adjoining reflecting pools. Visitors to the galleries would be able to view sheets of cascading water. This sectional model shows the plan for the northern pool.    v v v

To everyone who reads this. I would like you all to know some sad facts. Every day, more people are diagnosed with cancer, respiratory illnesses & othe injuries from the dust of Ground Zero. Also, the number of people who have died from their illnesses from it are nearly half the total amount of those who died that horrific day.I am one of the people affected as well. I have watched as other WTC Responders pass from cancer - quite a few people who I walked the halls of DC with side by side are now gone. we lose more every day. now, after we fought long & hard to get cancer added to our 9/11 Health & Compensation Act, the suits in DC feel that its the right thing to do by attempting to sequester the James Zadroga Act money - needed funds to provide healthcare to us as well as to compensate us for the loss of jobs, homes, healthcare, even in some cases the life of the person who was injured. they want to take nearly 300 million of the Acts funding. this coming right after Reps talking about how 9/11 should not be forgotten on the Anniversary. so for those here in the US, please start bombarding your reps in DC demanding that this is stopped & how reprehensible behavior it is to raid the WTC Responders Act.  Our bill is designed to give nearly 500 million back, save the raising of taxes on the people by taxing overseas companies who restrict US goods imported into their countries.

I was one of the millions, who at some point on that day just happened to turn the TV on.

And thought like so many at first we were watching a movie. it was one of those moments that the impossible and possible got all mixed up. When nothing that was real could be but was. And out off all that came for a heart beat the whole world truly was one people.

Star Trek Into Darkness: Spoiler Alert

In the tradition of David Letterman, I now present not one but two top 10 lists of everything that I liked and didn't like about the latest Star Trek movie, starting with the positive. So here we go...10: Lots of action. I know many people complain that this was nothing but an action movie that just happened to have Star Trek in the title, but I would rather sit through this again, than go back in time 30 years to sit through Star Dreck: The Motionless Picture, where nobody does anything but…See More

The latest Trek movie.

A quote I read on Facebook: "Don't bankroll the intellectual desolation of the franchise by paying to see the latest film by J. J. Abrams. I have to believe you have better things to spend money on than encouraging Star Trek to be more about explosions and less about finding humanity in the void."
