My gosh...if you need a boost, go watch previous Superbowl performances of the National Anthem on YouTube.

Suggestion: First - start with Whitney Houston's awesome 1991 exhibition in Florida at SuperBowl XXV. Forget the hype, the problems she had, the politics of the era, and the blahblah that she lip-synched it -- just marvel at how she makes you feel listening. A true goddess. I can't watch this with dry eyes.

Next, Watch Jordin Sparks at Superbowl XLII in Arizona in 2008 - this is great too.

Try to make it through Beyonce Knowles' performance at Superbowl XXXVIII in Houston without singing along. Fantastic!

Faith Hill sang VERY well at Super Bowl XXXIV in Georgia in 2000.

And lastly view the Dixie Chicks 2003 performance in San Diego - beautifully done. Once again put aside what they did and the later controversy, and just LISTEN.

Thanks for reading

To all of you on active duty from all of US no longer in the uniform...

To some it was a chore,
Some hated it,
Some LOVED it,
Some joined for fun,
Some because the judge said so,
To others it was a life...
and still others - a lifetime ago.

Wherever your personal "over there" was...
Your loved ones waited and wished you were over here.
Some of us took our families with us (willing or not),
But whatever the billet, wherever the duty station was,
Whoever we are/were...
The Service changed us all a little bit.

Experiences and friendships that will never be forgotten...
Buddies and family members still living or having fallen.
They're all in our memories and in our hearts today as always.
And America says "Thanks" to us and to YOU, her heroes.

Carry on,
Derek Sauls

Maybe some of your buddies are this list, maybe you're an old timer and their names are carved in stone in Washington, D.C.; either way it's here for you to read over and remember the guys who didn't make it back from the current war.

I would like to wish my brother and sister, Devil Dogs, Gyrenes, Leathernecks, Jarheads and Corpsmen a Happy Marine Corps Birthday on Nov.10th.

Also I would like to say thank you to all the men and women of the U.S. Armed Services past and present for risking their life and limbs to ensure our liberty and way of life. A special thanks to those who gave all for us. Have a good Veterans Day Nov.11th.

Almost 21 years and still serving. Spent a majority of my career with the 82nd Airborne. Six combat tours and only wounded twice.. good average. Honored to be here amongst my brothers and sisters.

I joined the USAF because of the Iranian Hostage event. Assigned to USHRL as a Computer Programmer Trainee. I was hit by a teenager driving a van while on a joy ride. Disabled out I finished my service as a Federal Employee. A building suffering from sick building syndrome caused me to develop allergies to perfumed products. Now retired on disability because of PTDS caused by a co-worker who who wore extra perfume to trigger asthma. Now I try to serve my country by speaking up on civil rights issues and enviromental issues.
