Even at a young age, Lana knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. She wanted to be an explorer. Science and exploration was in her blood. Her mother was a Starfleet officer and her father, a renowned Environmental Physicist.
She was born on Betazed in 2336. Soon after her birth, her parents moved their small clan of three to Earth and settled in Bloomington, Indiana moving because her father wanted her raised on Earth. Her mother was a Lieutenant on the U.S.S. Exeter at the time and her father was the head of Starfleet’s Environmental Physics department.
When she was 6, her parents befriended another Starfleet family that resided in Bloomington, the Janeway’s. Though Kathryn Janeway was several years older than Lana, Lana’s superior learning capabilities put the two girls in the same classes at school. The strong friendship they built as children has endured the tests of time and is still present today.
At 15, Davis graduated from Bloomington High South and entered Indiana University as the second youngest student in history. She earned 4 PhD’s in different fields of science.
In 2364, she entered Starfleet Academy and, 5 years later, graduated 3rd in her class. During that time, she participated in an Archeological Dig in Antarctica where she found Human DNA which was later deemed classified by Starfleet and the Federation council.
Her first assignment out of the Academy was aboard the U.S.S. Stargazer; then commanded by Captain Jean-Luc Picard; who placed her in command of the exobiology department. Some years later, Picard was given command of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, where he personally requested Lana’s expertise, yet again. It was aboard the Enterprise-D where she received her promotion to full Lieutenant. That same year, her mother was killed at Wolf 359 by the Borg.
Soon after, she transferred to the U.S.S. Indianapolis. The Indianapolis was sent on a deep space mission to the Bad Lands in Bajoran space to search for a Federation vessel that had disappeared while attempting to retrieve a rogue group of former Starfleet personnel and common criminals, known as the Maquis. The missing ship was the U.S.S. Voyager, which was then being captained by her long-time friend, Captain Kathryn Janeway. After the extensive search was called off, Davis transferred to Station Deep Space Nine under the command of Captain Benjamin Sisco, where she now held the rank of Lt. Commander. Sisco recommended that she take the Commanders test. After passing with flying colors, she was again promoted, now to Commander, and transferred to the U.S.S. Faragut as ship’s First Officer. She subsequently served in that capacity until the Faragut was destroyed during a deep space research mission by an unknown Species.
When her brief stint on the Faragut ended, she was asked to become head of the Federation Science Annex on Vulcan. 5 years later, she was promoted to Captain and has recently been given command of a brand new starship, the U.S.S. Searcher. The Searcher will soon set out on her maiden voyage.
