STAR TREK: THE EARLY YEARS - TEASER TRAILER by Emil Karlsson

After talking it over with my production staff, we have decided to continue with our web series as planned and see what happens.

We appreciate the information given to us by Patty Wright via a concerned James Cawley of the 'Star Trek: Phase II' web series, but we feel the restrictions stated by Paramount to Cawley and his Phase II production related more to their series since it is TOS which is what the new movie is about as well. We can understand Paramount telling Phase II that they cannot change or modify their TOS series to copy the movie setting, characters, and design since their series would be the same premise and the same characters as the new movie.

The Early Years is a "prequel" with a majority of different principal characters and is set in an earlier time period in the new Trek movie universe. We are not a series using the main movie premise of the original Trek TV series. We have three characters (Pike, Spock, and Scotty) based on the movie versions, but these characters are in earlier stages of their Starfleet careers. Also our series premise is based more on Roddenberry's original Trek pilot "The Cage" but set in 2250 eight years before the movie.

Our web series STAR TREK: THE EARLY YEARS is meant to complement the new STAR TREK movie; not compete with it. We hope our series will supply the "Trek fix" for the new movie fans while they wait for the next new Paramount Trek movie to hit the big screen. We are promoting the new Trek movie franchise as much as we are our own web series. We hope our web series will help to create even more new Trek fans and possibly help disgruntled TOS fans glow to accept the new Trek movie universe and franchise.

We hope this will be a "win-win" situation for Paramount and for us as artists and fans of Star Trek, but If we receive the official "cease and desist" from Paramount, then we will reluctantly submit to their demand.

Spock Spare?

If Zachary Quinto ever wants out of playing Spock, I think Eli Roth ('Inglorious Bastards') would be a good choice to replace him. They certainly could play brothers. Actually people have mistaken Roth for Quinto.

ABRAMS' KLINGONS REVEALED - "STAR TREK: NERO" #1

Since Nero writers Mike Johnson & Tim Jones worked with Star Trek movie writers Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman, I think it's safe to say that Klingons in Abrams' Star Trek franchise will have forehead ridges.

Abrams' Klingons look to be a blending of TOS (tank top & shirt) with TMP/TNG (pants & boots) in their dress. And while they have forehead ridges, they are better groomed (by human standards) and their facial features (below the forehead) are more TOS in appearance. Their bro… Continue
