- Thanks for stopping by and hello to my fellow ST fans. I enjoy finding other ST fans and getting to know them.
I watched TOS while growing up in the 70s and early 80's, but not religiously. During the early 90s one of my roomates was a ST:TNG fan and I began watching the series. I was hooked, because while I enjoyed TOS, TNG had a deeper breadth to the idea of a way of life based on exploring the universe as well as the ST universe itself. And the characters were more developed as far as their emotions, feelings, values as well as ambitions. The idea of exploration as a way of life and the effects of making those of discoveries has always intrigued me. The idea of adventure ST conveys also matches my personality.
Taking the deeper breadth of TNG another step farther, it is also my favorite series, because it is much more 20th and 21st century friendly than TOS was. The themes and storylines that the characters deal with are much more like the issues we deal with and the personalities are also more human. I also like the fact that TNG was much more geo-political based as I earned my degree in history and have a particular interest in military history as well as governmental systems. Those elements of the ST universe continued to evolve in the three other series, just as TNG furthered them after they were first introduced during TOS.
I also enjoy ST because in each series, particular storylines come to an end. But many become the source of other ones in future episodes the other series.
Of course, I still like TOS and enjoy watching it, because of its value as a series which brought an original idea to our culture and the possiblity of a universe bigger than ours.
About me: I am living my childhood dream of being a reporter/journalist. I am currently working at the Apopka Chief, but aspire to move into broadcasting on the national level. I love any and everything involving media, including photography and photojournalism. ST influenced my other childhood dream, acting and entertaining. I have been in about 10 projects and work at Univeral studios as a seasonal and backup entertainer.
outside of my career, hockey and auto racing were the center of my childhood. i played hockey for 22 1/2 years and raced for seven years. I played defense and was an all star 16 times. the person i became was centered on the passion I have for those sports and my experiences playing them. But In general I have loved sports since childhood and my earliest memories involve sports. I also am into weightlfting and fitness and diet.
I have been told I have a very "British" sense of humour and love action movies as well as television comedies. I haven't been called my nickname very often since my high school days, but I still use it as my moniker, because it is so much more cool than a real name (or at least I think it is).
My favorite ST character is Worf, because the Kilngon culture is based on the ancient shogunate warrior society of Japan and I love military history.
I am also a big Star Wars and Highlander fan.
And by the way I don't collect paraphenalia, do conventions or speak Klingon, even though Worf is my favorite character. The episodes and movies are what I come for. Here's to Gene Roddenberry, may your vision continue to grow and inspire as well as be a part of lives like it has been mine.
