Looking forward to the story behind the photo, Nilva. You're one sharply dressed Ferengi! (Or should that be Ferengus? :-))

Someone may have an idea that gets put into some form of media like a television show, movie or book, but unless that media becomes popular and manages to capture the attention of a large number of people, then I wonder if an idea will necessarily r…

Dogs in Space: Charles Schulz’s Peanuts and Star Trek

When I was in grade school, a friend of mine and I co-created a school newsletter comic strip called “Dogs in Space.” I believe the main inspiration was the popularity of the Planet of the Apes movies. I’m not even sure we were aware that dogs like Laika were used in early space… Continue

A Reappraisal of Star Trek: The Motion Picture

When I first watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture (STTMP) in a theatre in 1979, I must admit that I thought that Gene Roddenberry could do no wrong. I was one of those Trekkies who were eager for new adventures after years of watching reruns. I think I watched the theatre scree… Continue

Is the Vulcan Nerve Pinch Possible?

Note: I originally wrote this last August before the new movie came out.

The origin of the Vulcan nerve pinch is attributed to the actor Leonard Nimoy who portrayed Mr. Spock in the Original Series. Supposedly, he thought that it was undignified for the stoic character to slug… Continue

Thanks again for the second post. You're right of course that not everyone can act rationally. It's just frustrating when someone baits another for the sole purpose of irritating/hurting them. It's a school bully tactic that just doesn't fly with me.

The book you mentioned by Burton sounds intriguing. I made an additional comment about it on the blog. The idea of Intuition vs Intellect has always interested me. Both can be valid in certain situations. I always see it as a more Spock vs McCoy debate. I wonder what they would say about it?

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I can appreciate anyone's opinion & can agree to disagree when it comes to the new movie. In fact, your Don't Hate Me Because I Hated Star Trek blog was one of the first items I read when I joined TrekSpace & I rather enjoyed it. The problem I had with Fizbin (and the whole reason I made that blog post in the first place) was the irrational, hate-filled anger that he had against anyone that didn't share the same near rabid dislike of the film that he did. He dared people to explain why they enjoyed the movie & when people gave them answers he would throw derogatory insults mocking them for their enjoyment. If he was as much of a liberal & fan of Trek as he says he is, then he would have the capacity to voice his displeasure, appreciate & accept the fact that not everyone is going to have the same views of Trek & move on. Unfortunately I have heard quite a few stories from other members that tell me this person is not one to adhere to that level of adult behavior.

Hey, thanks for reading my Voyager review! Interesting that you mention "Lower Decks." I recently watched it again and really enjoyed it. I think "Good Shepherd" is the Voyager equivalent and it was good but they didn't follow up on any of the characters in subsequent episodes except the Bajoran woman a couple of times. Anyway, your blog titles look interesting and I will read some soon.

When I was in 8th grade, I tried applying the word 'aye' to every day life. Low and behold, my principal got a kit our of this, and I received several well deserved laughs to my face. Oh how we learn and grow, lol.
