The social network for Star Trek Fans!
A guy on BlackPlanet messaged me today. He said me liking Spock/Uhura means I feel inferior as a Black woman who desires to be loved by a White male. Never mind fandom, or shipping or liking them as a couple. Nope. Liking this interracial couple is apparently deeper than that and most likely wouldn't apply if my skin color were different. Or would it? Would liking Janeway/Tuvok mean some White woman's desire to be loved by a Black man because it means she feels inferior just because she likes the couple? That question wasn't meant to be answered and was hypothetical.
Lets see. I have Star Trek fanboys not liking that I like this couple because they hate the romance that was added to the Reboot.
I have Star Trek fangirls, mainly hardcore Kirk/Spock shippers give me mess for liking this couple because I should only ship Spirk and how dare I like Spock with anyone else.
Then people outside of the fandom like the dummy I just posted about who views me liking the couple as some inferiority thing.

Comment by databrent on March 24, 2013 at 6:36am It's an interesting love story, and it's even double-interracial, not only because of the skin color but also between two Star Trek races, Vulcon and Human.
Yesterday, I watched the episode "The Man Trap" on BR, and I was suprised that Uhura actually tried to flirt with Spock in it. So she wasn't unaffected by him even in TOS.

Haters gonna hate. Don't make anything more out of it than that.
Comment by Scifigal on March 13, 2013 at 7:44pm I don't care what color they are......they make a awesome couple! Is that explanation way to simple??
